The
‘About Us’ Page
My name is
Pauline Wood and have been designing and making artist bears for a
couple years now. As I live in Vale Grove I thought that Valewood Bears would
be a good name for my bears.
I am married to Alan who is a Precision Engineer (engineering precisely
what I’d like to know? He certainly isn‘t very precise at home except
when it comes to DIY and then it‘s all military style, shipshape and
Bristol fashion).
Our daughter, Charlotte is a professional singer and dancer and makes
adorable miniature bears in her spare time.
We live in Yorkshire in a quiet, little village called Queensbury, no,
cross out ‘quiet’, we share Queensbury with the historic and world
famous Black Dyke Mills Band, which I love. You might know them best for
BBC’s ‘Ground Force’ theme and The Beatles’ film ‘Yellow Submarine’ . I
was born and grew up in the house next door to the band’s practice room
and quickly got to know every tune. Now,
our house is just a quarter of a mile away from their practice rooms and
in the summer when I open the window I can make my bears and listen to
them rehearsing.
In our spare time Alan and I go to dance classes, ballroom and
Latin (mainly Latin). We can often be found strutting our stuff at The Ritz (very glam)
in
Brighouse (not so glam) socialising with our friends and having a couple
of drinks, not too many drinks mind, as then you don’t know what your
feet are doing !
Well that’s enough about us for the time being, if you’d like to find
out more about the Black Dyke Mills Band and the village where I live
please follow the links below.
